Intertitles
I have decided to change the name of my film to 'Gone' because I think it fits better with the film and the plot, as before it was 'Dark City' which didn't really fit with out film as none of it is filmed at night and that is what the name sounds like it means.
Intertitles
I created some possible intertitles for my trailer as I wanted to make them look good and different from what I did in my preliminary activity.

Magazine Layouts
These are some magazine layouts that I made for my film magazine. I decided that I want to focus on the main image so I tried not to add too much to the front cover.

Magazine Planning
These are film magazines that already exist:
Conventions of a Magazine:
- A masthead at the top so readers can identify the magazine. The masthead is usually a colour that will stand out and catch your eye.
- A cover photo is the main image in the centre of the magazine. This is what the readers will see first and the image is usually an actor playing a main character in a film.
- The headline is below the image and tells the reader what the main story is about,
- The strapline is above or below the headline, and tells the reader more about the main story inside the magazine.
- Some magazines have a banner at the bottom to tell the reader what else they can expect to find inside the magazine.
- There is usually features or pull quotes from different articles to show what else is inside the magazine.
- Magazines also have a colour scheme that they stick to throughout every magazine, so the reader can identify it.
Billboard Posters
These are billboard posters that already exist:
Conventions of a Billboard:
- The logo/title for the film is shown on the billboard so that people will identify it as being advertisement for the same film. The same logo is used on all of the print products to establish brand identity.
- Most billboards tend to have very little text and focus more on the image, as billboards are usually seen by those driving so they don't have time to read.
- The image on the billboard tends to be one that hasn't been used on any of the other print products. The image is high quality as billboards tend to be quite big so the image has to look clear and stand out. The image is usually of the main character or action within a key scene.
- Most billboards tend to have a line from the film that is well known on the billboard. On the billboards above 'The average person used 10% of their brain capacity. Imagine what she could do with 100%', 'The dream is real', 'Don't let go', and 'Rest in Pieces' are examples.
- The billboards usually have the production company and directors name on them.
- They also have the films release date, and some also have the social media and website for the film so people can look it up/
- Billboards are also easy to read and they are clear.
Film Posters
Conventions of a Film Poster:
- The posters all have a title that stands out and is the largest font on the poster. They tend to be at the bottom of the poster but some place them in other areas.
- The image usually shows the main character(s) in a way that shows what the film is about. The images are always high quality and tend to be mid-shots or close-ups.
- The poster also features subheadings which say the actors name, any slogans from the film that may be well known, the director, the production company logo and when the film is released.
- The posters are kept simple and neat so that they appeal to the eye. They are also clear so that they can be easily read and they are eye catching.

Masthead Ideas
I looked at existing magazine mastheads and they were all quite simple yet they were bold and stood out. I decided to try and make mine the same way so that they look professional and eye-catching. I tried to not use much colour so that they would fit with the colour scheme for my entire magazine, and they can be adapted if they need to be. I used words that are associated with films as I thought this made it stand out and show what the magazine was about.
I asked people who were apart of my target audience their opinions on my masthead ideas and what they thought would be best. This is what they said:
From the survey that I did it shows that most people preferred the title Cinematic so I have decided I'm going to use that. I also think Cinematic is good because it makes it clear that the magazine is a film magazine. Most people also said that the mastheads looked better as plain text with a filter rather than just plain text or with colour so I am also going to do that. I think it will also look more professional this way. I'm going to listen to what they said I could do to make it more professional and work on some more ideas that will look better and be much more professional and eye catching.
